The present invention is directed to a seed boot and fertilizer knife which can be attached in combination to the shank of most medium or heavy duty cultivators and which permit three field operations to be carried out simultaneously: the breaking up or working of the soil by the shovel of the cultivator; the deposition of seed into seed beds; and the delivery of fertilizer below and to the side of the seed bed thereby maximizing the delivery of fertilizer to the seeds while minimizing the risk of fertilizer burn.
