Abstract From the Canadian patent

Novel diorganopolysiloxane-azobenzene alternating copolymers composed of repeat units having the formula (1), wherein n has a value greater than or equal to 1; each R1 is independently selected from a group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a monovalent hydrocarbon group and an alkoxy group; each R2 is independently selected from a group consisting of a monovalent hydrocarbon group and an alkoxy group; each R3 is a linking group selected from a group consisting of an oxygen atom C2-C6, alkylene groups, -O(C=O)-, -R4-N(R5)-(C=O)and, -R6-(C=O)-N(R7)-, are described. These copolymers undergo reversible photomediated changes in their viscosity and absorption spectra. Also described are methods for …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted April 14, 1992. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended April 14, 2009.
