Abstract of the Disclosure, In order to prevent in the microwave excitation of a, laser gas the development of wall boundary layers and to attain a homogeneously large volume plasma, the laser gas is delivered in the inclusion zone of the microwave after passing a currentforming element where it is ignited by a coaxial wave guide arrangement. The ignited laser gas then spreads with the microwave in the discharge segment where it produces a homogeneous excited laser-active medium. The homogeneity is additionally improved with the operation of the microwave guide near the "cutoff-width".
