Severed Label Applicator with Anti-Gumming Lubricant Applying Means, The invention provides a method for applying labels to articles moved one by one past an application station. The labels are cut from a web which is fed through the machine, the web having adhesive applied to one side thereof which is pressure sensitive immediately before application to the articles. The machine includes cutting rollers which cuts through the adhesive side of the web in order to sever the labels therefrom and the, cutting edges of the cutting roller are kept clean by applying thereto liquid silicone or the like release composition.
