A jewelry setting for holding at least one decorative gem stone comprises a frame having an upper surface bounded by side edges with at least one opening formed in the upper surface and sized to receive therein a lower surface of a decorative gem stone; and a housing having an opening bounded by sidewalls, each sidewall having a bottom portion and a top portion, the opening of said housing being sized to accommodate therein the frame between said sidewalls. The top portion of the sidewalls has a lip extending into the opening formed by the sidewalls, the lip having a surface facing downwardly toward the bottom portions of said sidewalls.
