Abstract From the Canadian patent

A universal support bracket attaches to the side wall of an electrical box and is adjustable to locate boxes of different depths within hollow wall structures of different depths. The support bracket does not extend across the back of the box, or have a hook engaging a lip of the side wall, thus no part of the bracket extends over the front or back of the box. The bracket includes an elongate strip of sheet material having end flange portions at both ends projecting substantially perpendicular from the strip the, end flange portions adapted to support the bracket against inside surfaces of the opposing wall boards; at least one bend line across the strip such that a portion of the strip may …
