A welding robot including a working section having a welding gun and an actuating cylinder for forcing the welding gun toward a work to be welded. A control unit is provided for calculating welding controlling parameters based on the informations concerning the work to be welded. The welding controlling parameters are applied to a timer controlled operating unit which controls the welding gun and the actuating cylinder in accordance with the welding controlling parameters as received from the control unit.
