Abstract, A polypeptide called cartilage-inducing factor (CIF-B) or transforming growth factor beta 2 (TGF-B2) that is found in bone and has heretofore been identified as having in vitro cartilage-inducing activity TGF-B, activity, and anti-inflammatory activity has now been found to possess potent oncostatic activity. CIF-B showed oncostatic activity on human and animal tumors including carcinomas, adenocarcinomas, lymphomas and, melanomas.
