Abstract From the Canadian patent

In a reel-change device provided for feeding highperformance packaging machines with web-like packaging material wound to form reels, two working journals are fed alternatively with ("full") reels, whilst the other working journal carries the working reel running off in the meantime. The new reels are extracted from a reel stock by means of a transport arm with a transport journal and, as a result of pivoting to one side or the other, are brought into a position equiaxial with one or other of the working journals.
