Abstract From the Canadian patent

A circuit arrangement for limiting the switch-on current and for providing an over voltage protection in switch-mode power supply devices, comprising an input-end storage capacitor (12) which forms a low-impedance voltage source for a connected current supply arrangement. A current supply device of this type is provided with a circuit which both limits the switch-on current and also ensures a protection against excess voltages across the storage capacitor (12). This is achieved with the assistance of a field-effect transistor (11) arranged between the supply voltage source (1) and the storage capacitor (12) and controlled both by an amplifier for current limitation and by a delay element …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 14, 1992. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 14, 2009.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
