A telephone modular jack includes a base for receiving thereon a contact block carrying an array of spring contacts the corresponding number of terminal units and a cover, all, mounted downwardly upon the base to be capable of being assembled by an automated technique. Each of the terminal units has a lug which is press-fitted to each one of lead tabs extended from the spring contacts when the contact block is mounted on the base. Each spring contact has a first end portion, a middle portion, and a second end portion the, portions being bent with respect to the others.
