A cutting tool for cutting hard materials is provided, having at least one preformed cutting element including an outer cutting portion containing cutting particles of abrasive material bonded and held together by a matrix of metal bonding material and an inner noncutting metal portion of either the same metal bond matrix or a different metal, laser beam fusion welded to a metal wall portion of a metal support of a different metallic composition by strong laser fusion welded seamless phase of the adjoining portions of the united inner non-cutting and wall portions.
