The invention is a compound which comprises an amido alkenoic acid or a water-soluble salt thereof and an arylcyclobutene moiety, wherein the cyclobutene moiety is fused to the aryl radical, and wherein the amide nitrogen is connected to the aryl radical of the arylcyclobutenyl moiety by a direct bond or a bridging member.
