A device is provided for increasing the distance between the power head and bit of a power screwdriver particularly one intended for driving drywall screws. The device includes a polygonal drive rod which replaces the original drive rod in the tool's clutch mechanism a, cylindrical sleeve which is press fit over the new drive rod and receives the original drive rod at the other end thereof, and a cylindrical adaptor which receives the sleeve internally and connects the clutch mechanism to the depth gauge of the tool, the bit still projecting from the depth gauge.
