The invention relates to an electrode unit to be used for purification of emulsions and polluted waters especially oil-bearing waters, by means of electrolysis. The liquid to be treated is made to flow past electrodes which together form an adjustable spacing between the electrode tips. When only one soluble electrode is used the feeding of this electrode causes a problem especially, when a fairly high purification effect is wanted. In the present invention, this problem is solved by forming the electrodes of vertically placed plates made of a soluble material. Each plate is insulated from the adjacent plates.
