A wall tie system for use during construction of a new structure to tie the new structure to an existing wall. The system comprises a backing plate (1) which in use, is fixed to the existing wall and a number of wire ties (20, 21, 22) having one pact (21) which is in use, engaged with the backing plate (1) and another part (20) which is interposed between successive courses of the new wall. The backing plate is provided along its length with a number of hook-like tabs (7) extending out of the front face of the backing plate behind which the wire ties are engaged.
