Lids or covers for relatively small storage bind conventionally are hinged by one side thereof to the rim of the opening and are open and closed by remote linkage and/or cables extending from the lids to a convenient location. When larger lids are used on relatively large storage bins, not only are they relatively heavy and thus difficult to actuate but often high winds will either make closing and opening more difficult but also there is always the possibility that severe structural damage can occur to the hinge mechanism.
