Abstract From the Canadian patent

An automobile air conditioner comprises a generally elongated casing having air intake and outlet grilles on its opposite sides. A generally elongated evaporator is mounted in the casing to extend generally in the longitudinal direction of the casing and positioned adjacent the air intake grille. At least one cross-flow fan is mounted in the casing to extend generally in the longitudinal direction of the casing, being positioned between the evaporator and the air outlet grille. A drive unit drives the cross-flow fan from top to bottom as viewed from the air outlet grille.
