Abstract From the Canadian patent

This process is carried out in electrochemical cells which are non-partitioned or are partitioned by at least one separator and have a gas diffusion electrode and a gas space located laterally to the direction of flow of the electrolyte. In this process, the electrolyte is caused to flow, by means of gravity, through the electrochemical cell in such a manner that the gas diffusion electrode is at least partially wetted.
