The roller comprises a hollow roller and a fixed crosshead. A bearing housing is provided, in which the hollow roller engages with an axial extension that is of reduced diameter. The bearing is installed between the outer side of the extension and the inner surface of the bearing housing and has its own lubri-, cant feed and drain lines. The bearing housing encircles the end of the crosshead outside the bearing without any clearance on a, supporting length. The design makes it possible to separate the pressure and thermal transfer liquid in the hollow roller from the lubricating liquid for the bearing, and increase the working temperature of the pressure and thermal transfer liquid.
