Abstract From the Canadian patent

An apparatus (10) and method especially adapted for applying and cutting a predetermined length of sidewall (12) in strip form on a transfer roll (14). The strip material (12) is carried by a strip applier assembly (20) which is mounted on a supporting structure (16) for movement of the strip applier assembly (20) toward the transfer roll (14) to carry the strip (12) into position for stitching the end (74) of the strip (12) on the roll (14) so that a predetermined length can be wound on the roll (14).
