Abstract From the Canadian patent

A mechanism for feeding a ribbon having discrete three dimensional objects includes a specially formed finger which fits through a U-shaped opening from the back side Or the ribbon and incrementally drives the ribbon into position where it is severed along predetermined line by a knife which moves transverse to the direction of movement of the ribbon. The knife includes a gap in the blade opposite the U-shaped opening to avoid severing a tab associated with the U-shaped opening.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 22, 1991. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 22, 2008.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
