Abstract From the Canadian patent

A compound of the formula, including a hydrochloride salt thereof which is useful as an intermediate in the preparation of a compound of the formula, The latter compounds are themselves useful as hypotensive agents due to their angiotensin converting enzyme inhibition activity and, depending upon the definition of X1 may also be useful as analgesics due to their enkephalinase inhibition activity.
