Abstract From the Canadian patent

A uni-directional/bi-directional sealing gate valve comprises a valve body with a float passage and a valve gate chamber intersecting the flow passage. A valve gate in the chamber controls fluid flow through the valve. The gate has a flow passage extending therethrough for cooperation with the body flow passage to permit fluid flow through the valve when the gate is in a first position. When the gate is in each of second and third positions, a device prevents fluid flow through the valve. A fluid tight seal is provided between the valve gate and the valve flow passage. A pressure relief is provided in the valve gate for permitting escape of pressure from the gate chamber into the body flow …
