Disclosed is a coal gasification installation comprising a reactor for the gasification of powdered coal on a bath of liquid iron, a cooling flue constituting a boiler connecting the outlet of the reactor to a vapour superheater fed with vapour issuing from the boiler a dust-, removing cyclone connected to the outlet of the superheater a thermal exchanger connected to the outlet of the cyclone in which a drying fluid is heated by thermal exchange with the combustible gas, a conditioning tower connected to the outlet of the thermal exchanger, the conditioning tower being connected to a dry electrofilter which feeds a storage gasometer through a three-way valve.
