The present invention relates to a new and useful composite fiber and its use, especially its use as a dimensionally stable separator. The composite fiber is comprised of non-organic particulates bound to an organic polymer in fiber form and prepared by vigorously grinding or shearing a mixture of non-organic particulates and organic precursor particles for the polymer at elevated temperature. Many non-organic substances are serviceable and valve metal oxides are highly suitable. The organic polymer fiber is advantageously derived from fluorine-containing polymer. The composite fibers can serve as a filter, for instance as a filter-packing material for column chromatography, or can be …

Why it's free to use
- Granted May 22, 1990. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended May 22, 2007.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
