A device for cutting overlapped carpet sections so as to produce matched seams is disclosed. The device comprises a generally planar base plate having an upper and a lower surface. Two generally planar side plates are provided on the base plate adjacent the respective opposed side edges of the base plate so as to protrude downwardly below the lower surface. A handle having a longitudinal axis is affixed to the upper surface of the base plate between the two side plates with the longitudinal axis in angled relation to the upper surface and in generally parallel relation to the side plates.
