Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention relates to a centrifuge having a mercury sleeve retained in an annular grooved grid in the outer wall of the centrifuge. A cup-shaped base seats an acceptor cone that is mounted atop a vertical spindle. The spindle has limited up and down movement and provides stability to a surrounding rotating sleeve that depends from the base of the centrifuge. This sleeve receives its drive from an offset power input. The inside of the cup-shaped base has particle striking surfaces that impart a swirling motion to infed slurry.
