A spool-shaped device and a method are disclosed for simultaneously cleaning the teeth, cheeks lips and tongue, and massaging the gums. The spool-shaped device has a tubular central body portion. A first flange portion is attached to an end of the central body portion and a second flange portion is attached to another end of the central body portion. The first flange portion preferably has a convex outer surface and a concave inner surface. The second flange portion preferably has a convex inner surface and a concave outer surface.
