A cationic ring-opening polymerization of a cyclic ether ("CE") in conjunction with an unsaturated alcohol (propagator) having an allyl double bond produces a, polyether macromer having an allylic group near one end and a hydroxyl group at the other; and prior problems associated with the use of olefinic monomers to produce such macromers are avoided; the macromers may be employed to produce a variety of graft and comb copolymers including liquid polymers which are beneficial as dispersants in polymerizations by lowering the viscosity of the reaction mass; in particular the macromers may be quaternized to yield anti-statics, fiber softeners excipients for drugs and biomimetic drugs; the …

Why it's free to use
- Granted January 9, 1990. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 9, 2007.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
