An optical disc apparatus provided with a record correcting system for controlling the variation in the record bit length. The record correcting system may be controlled not only while the power supply is put to work but also during the unoccupied time when the recording reproducing, and erasing operations to the information record region are not required from the above apparatus. Also the, controlling operation may be performed so that the value of the record correction may be renewed at each of the proper time intervals.
