Abstract From the Canadian patent

A process of casting metal in an electromagnetic mold consists in that a flow of molten metal is continuously fed into an inductor of the mold, whereupon a casting is formed under the action of electromagnetic field. Initial solidification of the casting takes place on a bottom of the mold with the, frequency current passed through the inductor being such as to ensure equilibrium between hydrostatic pressure of the melt and electrodynamic pressure of the inductor field thereby permitting the casting to be produced of a preset cross section. In the course of solidification of the melt the casting being formed is continuously withdrawn from the inductor by moving the bottom. Once the bottom …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted December 5, 1989. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended December 5, 2006.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
