An instrument capable of detecting low concentrations of a pollutant or other component in air or other gas including a combination of a heating filament having a catalytic surface of a noble metal for exposure to the gas and producing a derivative product from the component and, an electrochemical sensor responsive to the derivative product or providing a signal indicative of the product. At concentrations in the order of about 1-100 ppm of tetrachloroethylene, neither the heating filament nor the electrochemical sensor is individually capable of sensing the pollutant. In the combination, the heating filament converts the benzyl chloride to one or more derivative products which may be …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted September 26, 1989. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended September 26, 2006.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
