Abstract From the Canadian patent

In a steam-foam-displacement of oil within a reservoir formation having a significant ion-exchange capacity for releasing multivalent cations, the rate of the steam foam propagation is increased by injecting a mixture of steam and a steam-foaming surfactant mixture comprising an independently effective steamfoaming sulphonate surfactant mixed with a lesser amount of an alkyl or alkylarylpolyalkoxyalkylene sulphonate cosurfactant.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted September 19, 1989. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended September 19, 2006.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
