Abstract From the Canadian patent

Set retarded hydraulic cement compositions for cementing high temperature subterranean zones penetrated by wellbores and methods of using the compositions are provided. The cement compositions include effective amounts of a setting rate retarder comprised of one or more methylene phosphonic acid derivatives.
