Abstract From the Canadian patent

Novel high molecular weight water soluble terpolymers derived from ethylenically unsaturated monomers with pendent amide groups, carboxyl groups and ester groups containing a 2-hydroxypropyltrimethylammoniumchloride moiety are flocculants of high efficacy. These terpolymers may be prepared by reaction between glycidyl trimethylammoniumchloride and copolymers of acrylamide and acrylic acid. The compositions are derived from acrylamide-acrylic acid copolymers and may contain as little as 4-7% of chain segments containing the 2hydroxypropyltrimethylammoniumchloride moiety connected to the polymer backbone via an ester linkage. The acrylamide-acrylic acid copolymers may be obtained by any known …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted August 1, 1989. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended August 1, 2006.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
