A bale handling system which avoids the necessity of using a thrower mechanism. A loading chute guides the bales from the baler to the hay basket. The chute means guides the bales of hay up and into the hay basket without any mechanical assistance being provided aside from the force of the baler ejecting additional bales of hay. The guide means reliably guides the bales of hay to the hay basket even when the baler is turning at sharp angles or is in rough ground.
