An offshore mooring system is described which includes a column with an upper end connected to a vessel through a universal joint and a lower end anchored by chains to the sea floor. A weight hangs down from the bottom of the column. A pair of line guides are on the lower end of the universal joint and a pair of lines extend through the guides to the top of the column when it is being pulled up to the vessel. As the column is being pulled up the line, guides pivot the universal joint into alignment with the column.

Why it's free to use
- Granted May 23, 1989. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended May 23, 2006.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
