The invention is a catalyst composition useful in the dealkoxyhydroxymethylation of formaldehyde acetals prepared by a specific method. The catalyst is precipitated from the reaction mixture resulting from the dealkoxyhydroxymethylation of a formaldehyde acetal with syngas in presence of a mixture of Co2(CO)8 and Ru3(CO)12 as catalyst. The precipitated catalyst has better activity than a mixture of Co2(CO)8 and Ru3(CO)12.

Why it's free to use
- Granted May 16, 1989. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended May 16, 2006.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
