A navigation sensor having a gyroscopic element for rotation about an axis, and a torque sensing assembly which includes a first piezoelectric beam mounted in coaxial relation to the axis; first beam restraining means for mounting a first edge portion of the beam transverse to the axis and within a base; and second beam restraining means for mounting an opposite edge portion of the beam transverse to the spin axis and within the base. The resulting restrained beam of the torque sensing assembly generates an electrical signal proportional to the angular velocity of the gyroscopic element. At least one flexure hinge is provided for resiliently mounting the gryoscopic element to the base.

Why it's free to use
- Granted May 16, 1989. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended May 16, 2006.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
