A control device for a variable capacity compressor in an automotive air conditioning system. The control device includes a first sensor disposed forward of the evaporator and a second sensor disposed behind the evaporator. The control device compares the air temperatures detected by the sensors with predetermined temperatures and, controls the capacity of the compressor in accordance with the compared results.
