Abstract From the Canadian patent

Method and Arrangement of, Coding Digital Image Signals Utilizing Interframe Correlation", ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In order to encode image signals using interframe correlation while maintaining high data compression as well as high resulting images, a motion compensated interframe prediction error is orthogonally transformed and then is subject to quantization. Thereafter the, quantized error signal undergoes inverse orthogonal transformation. In order to compensate for distortions caused by the quantization, a difference between the inversely orthogonally transformationed error signal and the original prediction error signal is quantized. By selecting the quantization characteristics …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted March 14, 1989. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended March 14, 2006.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
