Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention relates to a fire detector with a measuring chamber (9,9') limited by two electrodes (1,2) whereby, an electric field is produced between the electrodes by a DC voltage source (4). The measuring electrode (1) is connected to the input of a current measuring device (3) without direct connection with the DC voltage source As soon as charged particles of smoke penetrate into the measuring chamber (9) between the electrodes the electric, field causes a motion of the positive and negative particles. This charge drift induces a current into the measuring electrode and this current is measured.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted March 7, 1989. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended March 7, 2006.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
