Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention pertains to detergent compositions for simultaneously cleaning and softening fabrics comprising detergent-active materials, a primary or secondary amine and cellulose. The compositions combine good cleaning performance with effective textile softening performance on a wide range of textile materials.
