A filter element made wholly of fluorocarbon resin comprises a filter material produced by folding a sandwich-form sheet comprising a filter membrane made of a fluorocarbon resin and net supporters made of a thermoplastic fluorocarbon resin superimposed on the surfaces thereof into pleat form. The edges of the pleated sheet are welded together in a liquid tight manner and sealed ends are produced by embedding the ends in a thermoplastic fluorocarbon resin to force the resin into the pleats, As a result the ends are each integrally and tightly welded.
