The apparatus comprises an application roller pair which rolls an adhesive tape in a U-shaped manner about the rim of a shaped sheet metal part. The adhesive tape is located initially on a carrier ribbon and is drawn jointly with the former off a storage reel by means of conveyor rollers. After its separation from the carrier tape the ad-, hesive tape is guided via a loose pre-folding roller to the application roller pair, and the carrier ribbon is led off.
