Abstract of the Disclosure A side lifting apparatus is disclosed for detachable connection to a container from the side, arranged to be supported by the lifting stand of a fork truck to be raised and lowered along said lifting stand. The side lifting apparatus comprises a horizontal main girder and two vertical columns directed upwardly from the girder and rigidly mounted to its ends, each of said columns carrying a bearing housing having a downwardly directed locking pin arranged turnably in the bearing housing to be brought into locking engagement with a top corner fitting of the container.
