A gas or air flow regulator for installation in a gas conduit has a housing having a gas inlet a gas outlet, and a gas passageway extending between the inlet and the outlet. The passageway has a section at one end that converges radially inwardly in the direction of gas flow. A piston member is arranged along the centre axis of the passageway and is capable of axial movement along the passageway. A cylinder is mounted on the piston member and is capable of sliding axially relative to the piston member. The cylinder is substantially closed and contains a gas.
