Abstract From the Canadian patent

3,3-dichloro-2-methylpropene is prepared by reacting 1-chloro-2-methylpropene with sulfuryl chloride in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of nitrogencontaining bases or phosphines. Suitable nitrogencontaining bases are preferably aliphatic aromatic and, heterocyclic amines, as well as mixtures thereof; suitable phosphines are preferably aliphatic or aromatic phosphines.
