Abstract From the Canadian patent

B.31503, In producing methanol by synthesis reaction of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, a starting gas deficient in hydrogen is mixed with a hydrogen rich gas obtained by processing a mixture of starting gas with recycled hydrogen rich gas and/or unreacted synthesis gas. Purified gas produced by partial oxidation of coal is mixed with the hydrogen rich gas and the recycled synthesis gas compressed, and divided into (a) a synthesis stream which is fed to a methanol synthesis reactor, cooler and separator and (b) a hydrogen enrichment stream which is fed to a CO2 removal station and a hydrogen purifier.

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 26, 1988. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 26, 2005.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
